1. Material categorization
(Master list)

The recording of the materials in the warehouse, including their dimensions and properties, as well as the load carriers used, forms the basis for warehouse planning (static data).
Experience has shown that the available
material data is incomplete.

2. Analysis of dynamic data

Dynamic data refers to the quantities of materials received or picked per time period. Alongside static data, dynamic data is the second important component of warehouse and material flow planning.

3. Target storage technology analysis

The goal of material flow planning is an efficient routing concept within the warehouse. Ideally, processes and storage technologies can be arranged in a straight flow through the hall.

4. Dimensioning capacity & areas

Based on the static and dynamic data as well as the future production planning and the storage technology to be used, the required areas are calculated in an initial block layout.

5. Material flow concepts

Suitable storage technologies are identified for the recorded materials. Both manual and automated technologies are compared and evaluated.

6. Scenario development

With all the available data, three scenarios are usually developed that differ in the degree of automation.

7. Calculating and comparing scenarios

For the developed scenarios, the required costs over 10 years are calculated. All qualitative advantages and disadvantages are also determined. Together with the client, the scenarios are evaluated, and the most suitable one is selected.
